Rafting Down the River Belá

The meanders of the upper section of the wildest Slovak river Belá are accessible to adrenaline enthusiasts exclusively in a one person sit on kayak or canoe. This first official starting point for wild water enthusiasts offers up to 3.5 kilometers long rafting through the meanders of the river, which is known for its predation and unbridled beauty. It is home to many rare plants and animals.

The starting point for rafting is located near the gamekeeper’s house Tichá below the confluence of the Tichý and Kôprovský potok streams. Accessibility is via the hiking trail with its start from the parking lot in Podbanské.

Only members of tourist or sports organizations with a focus on water tourism or water slalom on a one person sit on kayak (K1) or canoe (C1) can sail, and they can only perform in designated places. The exact rules for paddlers are determined by the List of reserved places in the Tatra National Park no. 2/2022 of 19 May 2022, which also defines the time when they are allowed to be on the water. According to it, they can start rafting the river at the earliest an hour after sunrise, an hour before sunset they must be on the shore. Athletes are also limited by the sufficient amount of water in the riverbed on the entire section of the raft.

Starolesnianske pleso

Starolesnianske tarn is situated in Veľká Studená dolina on the right side of yellow trail in the direction to Priečne sedlo from Zbojnícka chata at an altitude of 1988m. with depth circa 4 meters and area of 7,2 ha.
