Educational Trail the History of the Smokovec Settlements

During a walk with 7 stops through the Starý and Nový Smokovec, the visitor will learn a lot of interesting information about the history of the Smokovec settlements. The trail is not marked, the info panels are located at the following stops:

  1. Starý Smokovec bus station
  2. Mineral Spring Smokovecká Kyselka – from the bus station we go up the stairs to the parking lot, cross the road Cesta Slobody („Road of Freedom“), walk along the right side of the department store and the left side of the sports shop and after a few minutes we reach the mineral spring
  3. From Kyselka, we take a path to the left and after a few minute walk we get to the catholic church in Starý Smokovec that is situated below the funicular station to Hrebienok
  4. On the right side of the Grandhotel we find a path leading to the main road and after a few minutes we arrive at the next information panel
  5. We continue along the path next to the main road in the direction of Nový Smokovec, we pass a smaller department store called Dom služieb, polyclinics and Spa Nový Smokovec. After passing a small lake we turn right to Villa Szontagh and here we’ll see another information panel
  6. From Villa Szontagh we return along the main road to Starý Smokovec. At the end of the Spa Nový Smokovec area we cross the road and continue for about 2 minutes directly to a tram stop with another panel
  7. The last stop can be found in front of the Tatra Information Centre in Starý Smokovec that is situated in the building of the Mountain Rescue Service. The building stands to the right of the Hotel Smokovec

The route can also be done in reverse, it is accessible all year round.

Pekná vyhliadka – Lookout

The lookout at Pekná vyhliadka can be found near Smokovecká kyselka spring well above Starý Smokovec. Several undemanding routes lead to it. The ascent can also be combined with a walk to a calvary, which also leads to the outlook. The lookout is equipped with a wooden, covered gazebo with seating.

Vila Flóra Starý Smokovec
