Batizovská dolina

Batizovská dolina is a south-facing multilevel valley in the central part of the High Tatras. It is about 5 km long and is marked by glacial activity. Directly below the red trail Tatranská Magistrála are the wide and steep Batizovské spády, below which is the Batizovská diera (Loch). The most beautiful lake in the valley is Batizovské pleso. In addition to it, there is also the Malé Batizovské Pliesko, Pliesko pod kostolíkom and until late summer, the Batizovské oká are hidden under the snow. There is no continuous water flow in Batizovská dolina and even the Batizovské pleso does not have a permanent inflow. The visible outflow from the tarn marks the beginning of the brook Batizovský potok. It branches off and flows through cascades of Batizovské spády and through Batizovské waterfalls. The stream flows through the historic village of Batizovce. The shortest access to Batizovské pleso is from the Tatra settlement Vyšné Hágy or along the Tatranská Magistrála from Popradské pleso or from the other direction from Sliezsky dom and Velické pleso.
